 The Certified Project Manager (CPM)

Earn the Prestigious CPM Certification!

Make your Boss Take Notice! - ... Stand out amongst your peers.

The Certified Project Manager (CPM) is to a Project Manager as the CPA is to an Accountant, as the PE is to an engineer, as the CFA is to an investment analyst. Our belief is that once you've earned your CPM certification - it's yours. No re-certification and additional cost to you. However, in return, we do expect you to participate in IAPPM activities; writing articles, helping junior members and assisting with volunteer projects.

The CPM certification is based on an MBA curriculum developed by some of the best project managers in the industry. The CPM certification addresses the real needs of today’s project and program practitioners and is specifically designed to complement existing specialty certifications (i.e. PMP, CBM, etc). It is an efficient preparatory tool for embarking on a career in project or program management or even an MBA program. IAPPM benefits are numerous, but cater to:

-          Professionals looking for a competitive advantage in their professional development.

-          Functional Managers (i.e. engineers, marketers, ) looking to expand career options and general business knowledge.

-          Business professionals with increasing cross-functional responsibilities and interaction.

-          A syllabus for the CPM Exam.

-          CPM Exam Examples.

-          The source of input for developing the CPM Exam questions.

Topics covered in each examination are outlined below. IAPPM will offer a comprehensive list of questions that will be drawn from each category listed below. Candidates must master these categories to become certified.

Certification Track

 Why the CPM?

Project based organizations need people with broad-based, cross-functional knowledge and a total business perspective. There are at least 60 specialty certifications in the business field addressing specialties such as accounting, finance, auditing, engineering, quality, configuration, human resources, information technology, manufacturing, purchasing, industrial to but name a few. There is also the Project Management Professional (PMP) credential offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). We feel that there is sufficient merit to offer alternative supplemental project credentials.

The CPM is a generalist project and program certification, which would complement distinguished credentials such as the PMP, which is available globally. While specialty certifications are excellent in focus, a generalist certification will enhance a specialist’s effectiveness by expanding his/her viewpoint to incorporate the inter-relationships that the CPM provides. This is especially important as project managers are being assigned more cross-functional project responsibilities, need to understand basic project fundamentals and employ advanced management skills and tools to compete in this highly competitive global marketplace.
